City of Taylorsville Implements Citywide Wireless Surveillance Network
Salt Lake Valley City introduces wireless camera technology to enhance security at City parks
Reston, Va., March 29, 2010 – Wi4Net, a division of CelPlan Technologies, Inc. and a leading provider of integrated wireless broadband and video surveillance solutions, today announced it completed the implementation of a citywide wireless network and camera system for the City of Taylorsville, Utah. The first phase of the project brings cameras at City parks, while added cameras at other City locations are planned in the future.
“We are excited to pioneer wireless surveillance technology in our region,” said John Morgan, City Manager with the City of Taylorsville. “Now, we can bring camera feeds from our parks, live, to our Police Department, and enhance public safety and reduce vandalism. Since this technology is still fairly new, we decided on CelPlan based on its broad experience in this field.”
The project utilizes Wi4Net’s FlexiVideoTM product, incorporating the FlexiRadioTM wireless communications system. The solution features a multi-radio architecture which is crucial in scalable citywide video applications to assure high system throughput and a superior level of predictability. The wireless camera units are provided with leading IP Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera technology. The cameras stream real-time, high resolution video to a state-of-the-art centralized monitoring and storage system, used for viewing, archiving and management.
